The Chair of Mineral Processing

The Chair of Mineral Processing is located at the Department Mineral Resources Engineering at Montanuniversität Leoben and is the headquarters for dry and wet processing of primary and secondary resources to marketable products. Mineral Processing applies physical, physical-chemical and chemical methods, in particular for comminution, screening, separation, thickening, dust collecting, agglomeration and leaching. Furthermore, it comprises several ancillary operations to the processes proper. Mineral processing staff are experts in separation techniques, producing high quality concentrates from input materials with variable content of valuable matter. For primary raw materials, mineral processing closes the gap between mining and the manufacturing industry. For secondary raw materials like residues and by-products, mineral processing is the crucial link in the material recycling chain, increasing the efficiency of the raw material management of our planet.
